Facebook Time Machine
Facebook has a feature called “On This Day”, which can be tons of fun, especially if you’re a longtime user of the Mark Zuckerberg-run social network. The feature allows you to see what your Facebook feed looked like on this day a number of years ago, since the beginning of the time you started your Facebook profile. To use On This Day, go to this page. Once you’ve reached that page, look on the top right side, where it says Your news feed on this day in. Click the arrow next to the year shown there and you’ll be able to select the year you want to see your feed on this day for.
The example below is my Facebook feed in 2010, when one of my dogs had just entered the family.
You won’t get just your posts, you’ll also get friends’ posts from the current day in the year you’ve chosen. That’s why it’s fun to play with the feature every few days. You’ll probably be surprised about how personal your posts (and everyone else’s, for that matter) were in a time when social networks were much less important than they are today. Have fun!
