Now you can try out the Unlimited World plan and make free calls from Skype to mobile and landlines around the globe for a month.
Of course there are some caveats. This offer is only available to existing Skype users who have been registered for more than 29 days. Also, you’re required to subscribe using your credit card. It’s set to auto-renew, so you’ll have to make sure you cancel within 27 days from the start date. Otherwise you’re card will be charged for the following month. Currently the Unlimited World subscription is $13.99 / month.
Here’s the fine print: While the credit card thing is common for most subscription based services, it’s seems odd that only existing Skype users get the offer. Since Microsoft is merging Windows Live Messenger with Skype, I’d think there’s a great opportunity here to gain a large number of new users to the service. Regardless, now’s a good time to get the free offer and call your relatives around the world free of charge. Just make sure to cancel the subscription if you don’t want to continue it!
